Mission statement of the =mcminstitute
The institute for Media an Communications Management (=mcminstitute) is exploring the management of new media and the impact of the digital revolution on the economy and society.
The =mcminstitute aims to establish itself as the leading international center in the field of media and communication for education, research and consulting.
The =mcminstitute will perform pioneering research as it deals with Media Management on the level of media informatics, on the level of media economy and on the level of media sociology. Interdisciplinary cooperation with Schools of Media Studies is intended and welcome.
The =mcminstitute will promote the worldwide exchange of professors and students with other Media and Communications Institutes and advance know how transfer from the academic level to private enterprises and vice versa.
MCM 1: Information- and Media-Management
The University of St. Gallen for Business Administration, Economics, Law and Social Sciences, founded in 1898 as a "business academy", is one of the oldest universities of its kind in the world. The University of St. Gallen today is one of Europe's leading business schools and was among the first to be accredited by international EQUIS and AACSB standards.
The MCM institute - founded in 1998 with support of the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Heinz-Nixdorf Foundation - has established itself as a leading international centre in the field of new media and communication for research and consulting. The institute is exploring the management of new media and the impact of the digital revolution on economy, business and society.
The MCM institute brings to the consortium in-depth eBusiness knowledge. In the past it has gained considerable experience in the design of electronic business environments for networked ecosystems, market research methodologies for user need analysis and service design, business model as well as business process analysis and design, the specification of software requirements, conceptualisation and prototyping of innovative negotiation and electronic contracting components, strategic management in networked organisations as well as electronic contracting and negotiation processes.
